Nevan rekindles his love of hip-hop with new single and video for “Detox (Freestyle)”

There aren’t many artists quite like Nevan.  Hailing from the Bay Area, he now calls Los Angeles home, and why wouldn’t he?  The prolific creative fits right in with the city’s up-and-comers but stands out in his own unique way, as evidenced by his single “Detox (Freestyle)” and its accompanying video.

Having moved from The Bay to L.A., Nevan wanted to start the year off on the right foot, and the collaboration with producer Anttreeo truly exemplifies his capability to switch up the flow, quite literally.

“Anttreeo really influenced Nevan to just write ‘bars only’ over the beat with no hook,” Nevan’s manager told 24Hip-Hop.  “Though he doesn’t always make music like this, the concept behind ‘Detox’ was a fresh start into the new year.”

What makes “Detox” better is the video that accompanies it; the high quality, abstract concept fits seamlessly with Nevan’s bars and is reminiscent of a young Mac Miller.  Featuring shots from some of L.A.’s most scenic neighborhoods, it depicts the “genre agnostic” artist in his element, spitting on a microphone with palm trees and the Griffith Observatory in the background.

There are many things on the radar for Nevan, who is set on dropping a new song and video each month this year.  He’s building a steady fanbase with nearly 25,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and you can also find him on several prominent social media pages highlighting the best up-and-coming artists.

It’s not a matter of “if” for Nevan, but “when” he achieves his goals; he’s got showcases coming up this year and he has even secured some acting roles as well, showing that his talents extend far beyond the microphone.  Simply put, Nevan has to be on your radar, either that or he’ll find a way to show up there one way or another.
