Very First Peek At My Adventures With Superman Season 2

There’s nothing gratuitously offensive about My Adventures With Superman, the DC cartoon that premiered on Adult Swim last year. There are no powerful acts of violence or bloodshed. No one even says a mild swear. Its status as an “Adult Swim Original” has always been in question….was it aaaalways intended to air there? Hmm?

The reality is — and WB execs were likely aware of this — in the current state CN is in, My Adventures With Superman might have gotten lost had it premiered in the daytime. They were correct in guessing the show would have a lot of grown-up appeal, and shifting the show’s home to AS was a gamble that worked. The series found its fanbase, which has been eagerly awaiting more ever since the second season was confirmed in a tag after the Season One finale.

My Adventures With Superman is a fresh new take on the Super-mythos that casts Clark, Lois and Jimmy as all young, inexperienced people just trying to figure out the real world. Throughout Season One, the traditional rites of passage took place at lightning speed…Lois figured out Clark’s secret faster than a speeding bullet, but we’re really fine with that (anything but more “I wish I could tell them” angst; I suffered through Smallville, I’ve had enough).

But not everything was resolved and the biggest question still lingers: was Jor-El a good guy, or was Clark really sent to Earth to conquer it? You can add to this a second question, introduced by the clip AS shared this morning.

Hologram Pop is warning Clark that there’s another survivor of Krypton that may be arriving on Earth soon. And “soon” turns out to be pretty fast, as the ship itself crashes right into the hologram and wipes it out. Who has arrived, and are they friend or foe?

If you study the scrambled footage Jor-El projects, you can just barely make out who this is. Popular fan theories are divided between Kara Zor-El or General Zod, but…this is the frame that gives it away:

That’s totally Supergirl. Unless Zod is a woman in this take.

Adult Swim still hasn’t told us when we can expect Season 2, but the appearance of this clip means we can’t be far off from learning that information. More to come soon.
