An official description reads: “Riot Fest is a multi-day music festival founded in 2005, specializing in punk, rock, alternative, metal, and hip-hop featuring carnival rides, amazing food vendors, an arcade, sideshow performers, and more add to the atmosphere of one of the country’s largest independent music festivals.”
Headliners Green Day and Weezer recently made appearances at Coachella 2025, with the former topping the bill at the California festival. At one point in their set, Billie Joe Armstrong and co. expressed their support for Palestine by switching a lyric.
They also responded to Charli XCX’s “Miss Should Be Headliner” sash. Armstrong donned a ‘BRAT’ cap at weekend two, while drummer Tré Cool was pictured donning an “Actual Headliner” sash.
In other news, it has been announced that Green Day will soon be getting their own star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
Last October, Riot Fest confirmed the death of one attendee during the 2024 edition of the event. The headliners at last year’s festival were Fall Out Boy, Beck and Slayer.
In a four-star review of 2019’s event, NME wrote: “After 15 years in the game, Chicago’s Riot Fest continues to champion the pioneers of alternative music.”
