With the Annecy Animation Festival coming up shortly, there’s been quite a bit of news in regards to Disney Junior shows. These include renewals of Ariel, RoboGobo, Spidey And His Amazing Friends, and SuperKitties, as well as an upcoming series called Sam Witch. Let’s go over all of them.
1. Spidey And His Amazing Friends
Let’s start with Spidey And His Amazing Friends, which has just been renewed for a season 6. Spidey And His Amazing Friends are is the first Marvel preschool cartoon, which came out on August 6, 2021. The show centers on young versions of Peter Parker/Spiderman, Gwen Stacy/Ghost Spider, and Miles Morales/Spin as they take down all sorts of villains, and protect New York.
Now the show being renewed for a season 6 despite seasons 4-5 not even being out yet is quite interesting. This makes this the first series that has accomplished quite a bit. With the renewal up to season 6, it beats out Ultimate Spider-Man as the longest running Spider-Man cartoon, which ran for 4 seasons and 104 episodes in less than 5 years. It’s now the longest running Marvel cartoon, beating out Avengers Assemble, which ran for 5 seasons and over 120 episodes in less than 6 years. It’s now also the longest running, continuously airing Disney Junior show, beating out Doc McStuffins (which ran for 4 seasons and about 130 episodes in about 8 years) and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (which ran for 4 seasons and over 125 episodes over the course of 10 and a half years). That’s insane.
Spidey And His Amazing Friends is produced by Disney Junior Education And Inclusion, Marvel Animation, and Atomic Cartoons. The voice cast includes Alkaio Thiele as Peter Parker, Audrey Bennett as Gwen Stacy, Carter Young as Miles Morales, Kelly Ohanian as Doc Ock, Justin Shenkarow as Rhino, JP Karliak as Green Goblin, Stephanie Lemelin as Electro, John Stamos as Iron Man, and many more. 4. Sam Witch
And finally, we have a new original show called Sam Witch, which is coming to Disney Junior in 2026. Let’s see what it’s about. Sam Witch is a show created by Mia Resella. They previously wrote on shows like Craig Of The Creek, The Ghost And Molly McGee, Middle School Moguls, Dead End: Paranormal Park, Vampirina, The Chicken Squad, Ridley Jones, and Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. The show focuses on a young witch girl named Sam, who’s learning the ropes as she tries to become a better witch with help from her pets and her community. Not much is known about the show other than the fact that Brown Bag Films will be working on the show. Still, this should be pretty fun.
