Nickelodeon Acquires “Unicorn Academy” and “Vida the Vet” From Spin Master Entertainment

Nickelodeon has added the animated series Unicorn Academy and Vida the Vet from Spin Master Entertainment to their lineup earlier this month. Though not the first time either show was available in the U.S., this did mark their debut on American linear TV. Unicorn Academy is airing on the main Nickelodeon channel while Vida the Vet is airing on the Nick Jr. channel.

Unicorn Academy follows Sophia and her classmates at a magical boarding school on Unicorn Island, where they must bond with their unicorns to unlock their magical powers. The students must protect the island and its magic while also navigating the challenges of friendships, rivalries, and teen life. The series made its Nickelodeon premiere on July 6th, and episodes from the first season will continue to roll out over four consecutive weeks on Sundays at 9 A.M. (ET/PT).

Vida the Vet centers on 10 year old Vida, a passionate and curious animal lover who has always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. When her family relocates from a bustling city to the tranquil town of Sweetwood, Vida’s dream becomes a reality. With endless compassion and an adventurous spirit, Vida helps animals of all shapes and sizes, showing that empathy and kindness can make a world of difference. The series made its Nick Jr. premiere on July 7th, and season one episodes will continue to air Monday-Thursday at 10 A.M. (ET/PT) for the month of July.

For unknown reasons, Nick Jr. has opted to air the British dub of Vida the Vet. A separate British dub may seem odd when the original language is English, but this actually isn’t unusual for preschool shows. This isn’t the first time Nick Jr. has aired the British audio when North American produced audio was available (Peppa Pig being a notable example), however, previous examples were British shows. Vida the Vet is co-produced by BBC, however, it is primarily a Canadian show. The series with the original Canadian audio can still be seen in the U.S. on Netflix, The Roku Channel, and the series’ official YouTube channel.
