

Neverlanders, the 2022 Peter Pan-inspired smash hit bestselling graphic novel from author Tom Taylor and illustrator Jon Sommariva will be getting a movie in development from Pixel Zoo Animation Studios, under their LA-based original intellectual property unit Pixel Labs, with the men behind the novel now being on board with Taylor now being screenwriter and Sommariva serving as art director.
Neverlanders focuses on the tales of runaways who get stranded and transported into Neverland to experience the aftermath of Peter Pan’s death, together these runaways team up with General Tinkerbell to protect their future from the greedy adults of Otherland. The novel received major critical acclaim for its story, characters and has recieved multiple awards, including the Children’s Book of The Year Award: Older Readers as well as the Prix de Collegiens de la Somme and the ComicArts Award of Australia for its story, characters and even its surprises, aside from that, a sequel titled “Neverlanders: Get Lost” featuring some new characters is being slated to release next year
While plot and story details remain under wraps, the project is the first feature film to be in development from the Queensland-based Pixel Zoo Animation Studios, which has been purchased by toymaker MGA Entertainment in 2022. Pixel Labs, led by TV industry veteran Josh Fisher, currently has other projects in development such as a show based on SJ King’s “The Secret Explorers” as well as Jeff Victor’s “You Wish”, “Fixie Pixies” and “Kitty Witch” and plans to grow its slate through co-productions and partnerships.
