Brooklyn synth-pop trio Nation of Language have unveiled the official video for “Nights of Weight,” one of the most intimate and affecting moments from their acclaimed album Dance Called Memory. Directed by Sean Devaney, the video captures a stripped-back performance from frontman Ian Devaney, filmed between takes for the band’s previous visuals for “Inept Apollo” and “I’m Not Ready For The Change.” The result is a portrait of quiet vulnerability, a tender visual companion to one of the record’s most poignant ballads.
The release arrives on the heels of Dance Called Memory being named one of Rough Trade’s “Albums of the Year 2025.” To mark the occasion, the band has announced a new limited-edition Crystal Clear and Opaque Black Marbled vinyl variant, now available for preorder exclusively through Rough Trade.
Out now on Sub Pop, Dance Called Memory marks Nation of Language’s fourth studio album, a shimmering 10-track collection that cements their place among modern synth-pop’s most evocative storytellers. Produced and mixed in New York City by longtime collaborator Nick Millhiser and mastered by Heba Kadry in Brooklyn, the album includes radio favourites “Inept Apollo” and “I’m Not Ready For The Change,” both of which reached the Top 30 on AAA radio and helped propel the record into the Top 5 of the NACC 200 College Radio Chart.
Currently in the final stretch of their 51-date 2025 international headline tour, the band has already sold over 40,000 tickets, with sold-out dates across North America and Europe — including New York, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Dublin, and Paris. Tonight’s sold-out show at London’s Roundhouse marks their largest UK headline performance to date. The tour continues through November 28th in Lisbon, Portugal, with support from Westerman on all UK and EU dates through November 22nd.
Looking ahead, Nation of Language have also begun mapping out 2026, with a rescheduled date in Kansas City at The Truman (January 3rd) and a newly announced appearance at Primavera Sound Porto (June 11–14). More dates are expected to follow soon.
