This one had me right back in the late last century, the condition of those jangling chords was never going to have any other effect. ‘Chimera’ evokes the Cocteau Twins by virtue of the jangle, but also the woozy effects and a singer (Juanita Stein) who steals the limelight every time she takes to the mic. What really sets this track apart however is a chorus so festooned with romance and wonder it is befitting of this time of year, sparkle to match the shimmering lights all around. KH
