2025 was a great year for new Anime, but now we’re looking ahead to 2026, which also looks to be lining up to be another amazing year! Here are my Top 10 picks for the Anime series and films I am looking forward to the most:
Black Torch is an obscure and not so popular Shonen Jump manga that ended a while ago and most people forgot about. Viz Media is co-producing an adaptation of this obscure manga to give it a new lease on life. Shonen Jump anime are almost always the most popular titles to come out in a year, but the very derivative premise, this time teenage boy fights mononoke, keeps it from ranking any higher on this list.
Yes, it is very difficult to believe in Toonami originals when they have a well known reputation, and a not very good one. The thing is that the premise seems absolutely hysterically entertaining. A rooster that fights demons and shoots beams out of its mouth. That premise alone is a goldmine for a possible campy action anime classic. The quality of the CGI that we’ve seen in the trailers has some people worried, but it is possible this series can pull things off well and break the Toonami original curse.
This title is a feature film light novel adaptation. All You Need is Kill was famously adapted into the live action Hollywood adaptation Edge of Tomorrow. It will be interesting to see a possibly more faithful and less Hollywoodized adaptation of the light novel.
7. Re:Zero Season 4Re:Zero has been popular for bucking isekai conventions, with a protagonist who is not almighty and instead of getting his every desire, often suffers due to his superpower. The first season started as dark thriller, but it seems like by season 3, it has become a more standard fantasy/action title, but a well executed one. The strong worldbuilding and characters have made the series stand apart as possibly the greatest title in the isekai genre.
Trigun has been one of the most beloved anime franchises out there and the first season of the recent reboot from Studio Orange has been acclaimed. Will this second season continue the momentum? We will see. Milly is coming and fans are excited about that.
The main My Hero Academia has already wrapped up, but now we have Vigilantes as a way to continue this beloved franchise. Season 1 was pretty fun, and I expect season 2 to also be enjoyable.

I originally had this on the 2025 list before it got delayed, but its the end to one of the most beloved anime franchises of all time, and that makes it a big deal. Jujutsu Kaisen might be the the shinier new series, but that series owes a lot to Bleach.
Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the biggest anime titles out there with its incredible action sequences curtesy of MAPPA. With a three year gap between seasons, the wait is especially egregious. Does who saw the theatrical preview of season 3 say that the first two episodes are indeed incredible. Jujutsu Kaisen is probably the biggest blockbuster release of next year.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most widely creative anime releases out there. It’s been three years since the last iteration. The section of the manga this season will adapt is often considered the greatest part of the entire manga, which is the major reason why this season is so highly anticipated. The premise of a nineteenth century cross country horse race involving surreal JoJo battles.
Frieren season 1 was absolutely incredible and was one of the greatest anime of all time. Season 2 has huge boots to fill. We’ll see how it goes, but fans have faith in Madhouse.
