The guitar lines are so jangling I almost felt my teeth tingle, golden chords in other words. And in tow came vocals from Tom Smith that had a Elvis Costello in his pomp sensibility. No surprise then that Otoliths sound bright and chirpy and retro tinged, but never so that ‘Maeve’s Melody’ sounds in the least bit tired. In fact this cherub is upbeat, jaunty and a precursor to the bright summer days ahead. KH
