Tomb Raider has announced a year-long celebration in honour of Lara Croft’s 30th anniversary – with fans hoping a new remastered collection is on the way.
The original Tomb Raider game was released in October 1996 and quickly sold more than seven million copies. A number of sequels, Hollywood blockbusters and an animated TV show followed. In 2024, Lara Croft was voted the most iconic video game character of all time.
At the end of last year it was confirmed that a remake of the original Tomb Raider will be released at some point in 2026 ahead of brand new adventure Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which is due to launch in 2027.
The 30th anniversary celebrations don’t stop there though and in a new blog post, Crystal Dynamics has revealed a number of collaborations that will be released over the next 12 months. “It’s been 30 years since Lara Croft climbed, jumped, and swan-dived onto the scene, and every moment since has been an adventure. From her sharply-polygonal origins in 1996, to the recently announced Tomb Raider: Legacy Of Atlantis, our favorite British archaeologist and adventurer has established herself as gaming’s most iconic heroine, and we plan to celebrate that legacy all year long,” they wrote.
