The Night Manager viewers have shared their reactions to the season two finale, which aired yesterday evening (Sunday February 1).
The hit spy thriller returned for an unexpected second season at the beginning of January, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as former military officer Jonathan Pine a few years after the events of the first set of episodes.
The new season also took a surprise turn halfway through, with Hugh Laurie back as the presumed-dead villain Richard Roper.
Last night’s finale saw two major deaths, with Roper (who survived) killing son Teddy Dos Santos (Diego Calva), while Olivia Colman’s Angela Burr was also murdered.
Fans have shared their reactions to the twists, with many divided over how the season ended, one writing on X: “The ending of Night Manager killed me. I knew it would happen, but that didn’t stop my pain. My little Teddy… I can’t deal with this.”
“Well the ending of #TheNightManager was a disappointment especially killing off Angela,” another added.
“I’ve thought about it and I’m actually annoyed about the Night Manager finale,” a third wrote. “Yeah it was broadcast that ending for that character so early but I was like maybe…maybe and then they went nah headshot absolutely no chance they’re alive enjoy xx.”
Others were more vocal, one calling it “an absolute load of bollocks for an ending”, while another suggesting it was “utter tripe”.

Some viewers took issue with how it handled its queer storyline, a fan writing: “So the idea of this horrific death and teddypine being in love is what resurrected the show? this was your endgame? and you can’t come up with a way of executing it that doesn’t feel hollow, dissatisfying and borderline biphobic?”
“We were robbed, we didn’t get a Teddy Pines kiss, instead we got Teddy’s tragic death. They’re the new Romeo and Juliet, it’s a tragedy that Shakespeare himself would have written,” another said.
However, some defended the ending, a fan calling it “one hell of a finale” and that they “can’t wait” for season three, while another shared: “Everyone on here moaning about the finale of #TheNightManager Roper still alive, Pine still alive (more than likely) sets it up for series three…the good guys don’t always win and Roper is an awesome bad guy who I want to see more of. Personally I loved it.
