The ninth mainline Resident Evil game Requiem launches next week (February 27) and will see horror fans play as both FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and badass soldier Leon Kennedy as they explore the destroyed, zombie-infested Racoon City.

“Experience terrifying survival horror with FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, and dive into pulse-pounding action with legendary agent Leon S. Kennedy,” Capcom said in a press release. “Both of their journeys and unique gameplay styles intertwine into a heart-stopping, emotional experience that will chill you to your core.” Capcom has said the gameplay is split equally between the stealth and puzzle focused levels of Grace and the more action-orientated Leon stages.

Last night (February 19) it was reported by Deadline that the voice and motion-capture for Grace was done by Industry star Angela Sant’Albano (who plays Alondra Galperin-Diaz in the hit financial drama) while Nick Apostolides returns as Leon Kennedy after voicing the fan-favourite character in the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 4.

“On my way to Raccoon City…,” Sant’Albano wrote on Instagram, confirming the news.

According to Resident Evil Requiem director Kōshi Nakanishi, the new game is the “most extreme” entry in the long-running series. Speaking to Eurogamer, he said he took “the same approach” to this game as he did with the fan-favourite Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. “There’s really this graph of tension and release throughout the game, building up to a climax. That’s something that I think Resident Evil is really unique with among horror games. We don’t just scare you – we offer you a chance to release that tension by overcoming it all.”

He also confirmed that the single-player Resident Evil Requiem was originally conceived as an open-world, multiplayer experience before being reworked. “In the end, although we had some interesting concepts, we realised that it wasn’t what fans wanted to see or play. So we went back to the drawing board and created what led to Resident Evil Requiem.”

In other news, Nintendo has confirmed that Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen are coming to the Nintendo Switch next week – and the soundtrack is available to stream now.
