Showcasing an impactful rock and pop melding with replay-inducing vigor, “Watch Me Win It” is a track out today from Queen Anne, a Los Angeles-based band led by singer/songwriter Katie Silverman and writer/producer Sandy Chila. Silverman says that the track’s inspiration arose from a game of Catan, when she had “like three victory points in my hand during a game” — and “nobody had the slightest clue.” She explains: “They all pretty much counted me out because I only had a couple settlements, but then I built a city and turned over my development cards and that was that.”
Following the successes of previous singles “Lexi loves Me” and “Real Enough” — in addition to a cover of Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” — Queen Anne are poised to continue sturdy momentum with “Watch Me Win It.” Bouncy bass and twangy guitars bolster a suave vocal declaration, “ready to kick it in a three-piece suit,” as fatigue of over-politeness and inauthenticity is conveyed. “Make a little mess, have a little fun, drive a little fast,” the vocals assume a brisker, melodic grip in the delectable central chorus, punctuated by a “watch me win it” confident ardor. The addition of synths around 01:30 complements the hook wonderfully, while ensuing carpe-diem sentiments in the bridge carry into another melodic sequence. Full of charisma and hookiness, “Watch Me Win It” is another stellar output from Queen Anne.
