Resident Evil Requiem launches this week (February 27) with the ninth mainline Resident Evil game featuring FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft and returning fan-favourite Leon Kennedy as playable characters. Earlier this week it was confirmed that Grace will be played by Industry’s Angela Sant’Albano while Nick Apostolides returns as Leon after voicing the gruff soldier in the recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 4.

Ahead of Requiem’s release though, details about the game’s story, ending and other information has been leaked online by players who got the game early. Over the weekend, developers Capcom shared a polite request on social media.

“Please don’t post or share pre-release leaks and spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem. We really want everyone to enjoy the game’s story and experience as much as possible,” they wrote. “Our legal department will continue to issue takedowns and deletion notices for leaks in order to preserve your day-one experience.”

However Hideki Kamiya, the director of Resident Evil 2, was less forgiving. Sharing the official Capcom statement, he added: “For your own selfish satisfaction, you’re trampling all over the feelings of users who were looking forward to it, and the feelings of the creators who poured their all into making it – a detestable act that destroys everyone’s happiness and deserves a thousand deaths. May you be cursed to never play games again.”
