Los Angeles outfit Dutch Interior have released their latest single, “Go Fuck Yourself,” a sharp, unfiltered open letter to the city they call home. Taken from their upcoming EP, It’s Glass, arriving this Friday, the track serves as a blunt confrontation of the band’s love-hate relationship with LA. To accompany the release, the group shared a live session for the track, recorded to a four-track tape machine. This is the first instalment of a five-part series that will see the band performing the entire EP in stripped-back, live takes filmed in and around Los Angeles, bridging the gap between their polished studio recordings and their gritty, homespun roots.
The band on the single,
There’s a lot I love about LA and there’s a lot I hate about it. This song addresses the latter.
While the band’s previous work was largely self-produced in a garage in Long Beach, It’s Glass marks their first foray into a professional recording environment at San Francisco’s legendary Hyde Street Studios. Working in the same rooms that once hosted icons like Neil Young and the Grateful Dead allowed the band to expand their technical horizons, integrating grand pianos and organs, without losing the “weird little song” energy that defines their sound. The result is a collection of tracks that feel both technically broader and deeply personal, prioritising raw emotion and the unique environment of the studio over recycled pop formulas.
