Hazy guitar tones and caressing synths lead a magnetic dreamy pop allure on “So Dumb,” a recent single from Count The Clock. Led by the songwriting of Los Angeles-based composer Michael Coe, the project draws from shoegaze, baroque pop, and a myriad of other influences. Featuring the vocals of Leannie, “So Dumb” pairs an “I could float through the ceiling” excitable vocal energy with an eclectic tonal array, ranging from the lush spaciousness of the two-minute turn to expansive layers of vocals, twanging guitars, and serene textural flourishes.
“I feel your spell, I’m not going under,” the melodic vocals let out during an especially memorable sequence, arriving into the “feels so dumb, feels so stupid” hook — propelled by bouncy piano and gorgeous vocal harmonies. Tempting replays with its fantastic vocal performance and shimmering production, “So Dumb” is a surefire success from Count The Clock.
