Inspired by a fever dream that involved an insatiable desire for soup, “Soup” is an intriguing success of a track from Lem Lom, the project of Jo Wagner. The New York-based artist first wrote the song back in 2012, and now it sees the light of day following a recent unearthing.
Pushes of tender electric guitar and spacey synths hypnotize, while the emerging bass line exudes a late-night crawl with Lynchian allure. The caressing guitars and warming rhythmic backing make for an absorbing, atmospheric pull, with the ensuing vocals furthering the sense of introspection. Blaring guitar tones enthuse as the final minute hits, then settling back into the subdued, late-night initial atmospheric pull. “Soup” is a blissful earworm from Lem Lom.
