The sophomore single from Hartlepool, UK-based band Crescent, “Sin Again” dazzles with a dynamic rock appeal — moving from organ-laden haunts to a bluesy, sweltering rock character. The standout single comes ahead of their debut EP Lamentations, out on April 3rd. The band, which formed in college as a music studies project, continues to ascend; they opened for The Futureheads before even releasing a single, and then debut single “Milogather Parts I & II” earned ample acclaim, including from us.

A chillingly melodic production takes hold, with grungy guitar bites and solemn organs bolstering alternating vocalists. “Forgive me father, for you know I have sinned,” the initial vocals let out, admitting they “may sin again” as thumping rhythms add to the snarling guitar lines. A more soulful, charismatic vocal then emerges — the “forgive me father” line acting as a consuming refrain as the guitars, organs, and steady rhythms intertwine wonderfully.

A blast of fervent rock bluesiness unveils swiftly and beautifully just prior to the two-minute mark, the vocals matching alongside with a raucously sweltering delivery that exhilarates in its anthemic outpouring. The track consistently enthralls in its switch-ups between rock ardency and initial subdued haunts, then culminating in a ghostly, wordless vocal-led send-off, ending with delectably wailing guitars. “Sin Again” is a memorable rock tour-de-force from Crescent.
