The title of the new Game Of Thrones spin-off film has been announced.
Aegon’s Conquest was revealed during last night’s (Tuesday April 14) Warner Bros.’ CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas as part of the film giant’s “2027 and beyond” slate.
News of the spin-off was was confirmed last month with Beau Willimon, who was writer and showrunner of Netflix hit House Of Cards, as well as a writer on the Star Wars series Andor, on board to develop the project.
Little is known about the film, although it will be about Aegon I, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty, and his conquest of Westeros from George R. R. Martin’s expansive A Song Of Ice And Fire novels. The story will be set centuries before the events of Game Of Thrones.

The history of Aegon I Targaryen was told in Martin’s Fire And Blood book, which chronicled the rise and falls of the various Targaryen kings. The original Aegon was the first to unite the kingdoms of Westeros under one ruler.
He forged the Iron Throne from the melted weapons of his enemies and lorded over the land with his two sister-wives and queens, Visenya and Rhaenys.
Meanwhile, a third season of HBO’s House Of The Dragon is on the horizon, with a trailer having been recently shared ahead of its June release date.
Earlier this year, showrunner Ryan Condal confirmed that the third season will be the penultimate one, with the fourth bringing the show to a close.
Another Game Of Thrones prequel, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms, premiered earlier this year and has already been renewed for a second season. Based on the Tales Of Dunk And Egg series of novellas, it concerns the adventures of hedge knight Dunk and his squire, Egg.
