Midnite Radio – “Fear No Stars”

“Fear No Stars,” the new single from Midnite Radio, showcases the band’s euphoric and theatrical rock aesthetic. Emerging from the collaborative efforts of friends in Lebanon, Tennessee, and Los Angeles, the track fuses ardent melodies with cinematic chamber-pop strings. The single comes from their newly released EP, Auntie.

The production unfolds with an artfully climactic pull, exuding an initial post-punk rhythmic pulse with fuzzy synth-bass and dreamy chimes. Vibrant piano and murky guitar strums enter seamlessly thereafter, bolstered by lushly introspective vocal layers. “I could see it in your eyes,” the vocals push forth, escalating into heightened emotion alongside an emotive flurry of strings. This “fading” sequence enthralls in the palpable vocal emotion and chamber-pop injection; the strings add wonderfully to the sturdy rock backbone, combining for an anthemically memorable drive.

An especially fervent grip takes hold around the two-minute mark, where soaring vocals convey a sort of starry-eyed wonderment within an elongated tonal delivery. A triumphant array of instrumentation surrounds these magnetic vocals, moving back into the initial, more reserved presence as jangling guitars, doses of strings, and infectious rhythms propel into a satisfying finale. “Fear No Stars” is a wholly memorable success from Midnite Radio, enhanced further by a stimulating music video with spacey imagery that expands into nostalgic color.
