A lushly absorbing pop success with soulful, heartfelt appeal, “EVERY MOMENT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL DIES” is a gorgeous single from i give my friends flowers. First catching our ears in 2023 with the tracks “awave” and “now, forever,” the project continues to show a knack for atmospheric, grooving allure — especially fit for nocturnal drives and sunset-ready contemplation.

Releasing ahead of a double LP and upcoming tour, “EVERY MOMENT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL DIES” was written following personal tumult — specifically, the loss of a young pet dog, the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, and overall being “inspired by the last Kauaʻi ʻōʻō bird singing into extinction.”

Calming, late-night synths resonate alongside glimmering piano and click-clacking rhythms, gradually expanding to a catchier pulse. Wordless, emotive vocals linger with soulful entrancement, then guiding into a “so tired” lead vocal admission. “Will I ever really feel like I belong?” the vulnerable, introspective quality continues, moving into a caressing multi-layered vocal insight: “Every moment something beautiful dies.” There’s a somber, reflective quality apparent in the references to fading summers and imminent death, also evident in the “so long, to so many souls I love” line. “EVERY MOMENT SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL DIES” is a beautifully crafted standout from i give my friends flowers.
