I recently tried McDonald’s latest veggie burger, the McVeggie, and wanted to share a quick review for anyone curious about this new addition to their menu.
Unlike some of the newer plant-based meat alternatives like the McPlant, the McVeggie uses a classic vegetable patty — not imitation meat. When you cut into it, you can actually see bits of carrots, peas, corn, and other vegetables.

I’m not a vegetarian myself, but I still really enjoyed the McVeggie. It tasted like a typical McDonald’s burger, mostly thanks to the familiar bun and McChicken sauce, which is mayo-based and super nostalgic if you’re a fan of their chicken sandwiches. The patty itself is mild in flavor, but I appreciated the crunchy texture.
That said, I do think it could be improved with more toppings. Some pickles, onions, or tomato would add some much-needed contrast and freshness. Maybe McDonald’s will release a “McVeggie Deluxe” version in the future?

Overall, for a fast food veggie burger, the McVeggie is surprisingly tasty. It’s not going to blow your mind with bold flavors, but it’s a great option if you’re looking for a lighter, meat-free choice at McDonald’s. It’s also a solid step forward in offering more vegetarian fast food options.
